Mandatory add-ons are products that are automatically included when another product is ordered. They are not optional during checkout and cannot be edited by the user.
A common example is requiring a screen protector and DEP as mandatory add-ons when purchasing an iPhone. In this case:
- The user cannot remove the add-ons during checkout
- The add-ons are not calculated in the user’s budget
- The cost is automatically charged to the company, not the user

How to configure mandatory add-ons
Mandatory add-ons are configured in Velory for Partners and can only be managed by users with a Manager role.
If you are a customer interested in using mandatory add-ons, please contact your partner for assistance.
The configuration is handled through a CSV file template that is uploaded for a specific customer. This allows full control over which add-ons are connected to which products.
Before you begin, make sure that:
- All products you want to use as mandatory add-ons exist in the customer’s product assortment
- All products that the add-ons should be connected to also exist in the assortment
If any required product is missing, the configuration will not work.
Step-by-step
- In Velory for Partners, go to Companies in the navigation bar
- Search for and select the company you want to configure mandatory add-ons for
- Go to the Pricing settings tab
- In the Product section, locate Add-ons
- Click Download existing add-ons to download the CSV file
- If add-ons already exist, the file will include the current configuration
- If no add-ons exist, you will receive an empty CSV template
CSV file structure
The CSV file contains five standard columns. All columns must be filled in correctly for the upload to work as expected.

Add the VPN of the add-on product (for example: Screen protector, Phone case, or DEP). Only one add-on VPN per row is allowed.

Add the VPN(s) of the product(s) the add-on should be linked to as a related product. These add-ons will be charged to the user, depending on budget and company settings.

Add the VPN(s) of the product(s) the add-on should be attached to as mandatory. These add-ons are not charged to the user.

If you enter any number other than 0, a notification will appear in the store informing the user that the delivery time will be extended by the specified number of days due to required configuration.

Choose whether the add-on product should be visible as a standalone product in the store. Example: If you do not want DEP to be purchased separately, set this value to No

Uploading the file
When you are done filling in the CSV file:
- Save the file
- Upload it in Velory for Partners under the Add-ons section for the company
The configuration will take effect once the upload is complete.
Good to know
- Uploading a new CSV file will overwrite the previous configuration
→ If you add a new add-on, make sure the file includes all existing add-ons as well
- Mandatory add-ons are company-funded
→ Costs are included in company budgets and not shown to the user in the store
- If an add-on is configured using optional parent VPNs, visibility and availability may depend on:
- The user’s budget
- Company settings
Make sure to review these settings if an add-on does not appear as expected.
